The Story Behind The Forgetful Farm

The Forgetful Farm series was created by a single mom to one little boy. Although she has always had aspirations and dreams of becoming a writer, writing children's books was never part of that dream; until it was. Literally. This series is the result of a one of the only vivid dreams she has ever had, following pleadings and prayers while in the midst of losing everything (literally).

There is a saying "it's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything". It seemed life was handing her one bad thing after another, back-to-back, as life often does. Following her 7th surgery and yet another tragedy, she realized that she was not modeling the behavior she wanted to instill in her son. That she had become a hypocrite and that parenting style certainly didn't work on her growing up. She constantly praised her son and told him how strong and brave he was. To follow his dreams and do what makes him happy. That failure is learning and regret is a far worse feeling that cannot be reversed or cured easily.

It was then she recalled that children learn from behavior. It was then that she realized she had not shown him what chasing dreams looked like. The thought of knowing all of the talents he possesses and imagining what it would be feel like to watch him grow through life without ever using one of those talents and passions would be torturous. She refused to let him witness the same. At best, he would learn that dreams and passions are worth chasing. That failure can only happen if there is no attempt. He would learn that gifts are given for a reason and they should be pursued regardless of fear and others' opinions. That when life inevitably beats him down, those passions and gifts might provide the strength and resilience that is necessary to survive this world. That his dreams may be closer than they appear, as she has learned through this endeavor. All while helping other children learn, laugh, and benefit from the series while bonding with their loved ones. There are more series on the way with the same important principals and lessons. Portions of proceeds from sales of series will benefit survivors of abuse.

From the creator and author of The Forgetful Farm: "I hope this series and story inspires others to follow their dreams and lead by example for their children. That there's a good chance that their dreams are closer than they appear. That if the saying "life is but a dream" is accepted as truth, to not follow your dreams would be the greatest injustice to your own life."
